Controls Engineer / Energy Module

Bringing special vehicles to the road requires special tools. Innovative and groundbreaking vehicle technologies can only be produced in series using high-precision, perfectly coordinated production systems. We need toolmaking experts like you, who develop and build these systems with an eye for detail while also seeing the big picture. You will meet the special challenges in BMW production by developing solutions that are always one step ahead.

Become part of our highly motivated team at the San Luis Potosi site and participate in the further expansion of internal plant engineering at our international locations. Work with us to build production systems for car body construction, electric drives (high-voltage storage and electric motor) and other technologies.

What awaits you?

•    You will ensure production-related support of all control technology scopes within the production systems in the energy module technology domain. This will involve working with the production team to identify and prioritize control technology needs, and then developing and implementing solutions to meet those needs. As a Controls Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating all controls-related tasks within the battery plant organization and supporting the operator in the long-term elimination of faults.
•    Also, you will take part in strategic planning within specialist teams for the use of electrical standards and the development of new control technologies, systems, and standards during the commissioning phase up to series production. This will involve working with the specialist teams to develop and implement strategic plans for the use of electrical standards and the development of new control technologies, systems, and standards. You as a Controls Coordinator will also be responsible for evaluating control concepts in technical and economic aspects, as well as creating inquiry documents.
•    Additionally, you will implement digitalization topics within the scope of controls. This will involve working with the digitalization team to identify and prioritize digitalization needs, and then developing and implementing solutions to meet those needs. The Controls Coordinator will also be responsible for staying up-to-date on the latest digitalization technologies and trends.

What you should bring along?

•    Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechatronics, or a closely related field.
•    5+ years of experience in plant planning and/or implementing automation projects.
•    Solid knowledge of drive, control, and automation technology.
•    Advanced knowledge of PLC programming, preferably S7 Classic and/or TIA Portal, with experience creating and editing visualizations in WinCC or similar systems.
•    Familiarity with network technology and bus systems, including Ethernet and ProfiNet, and robot programming (KUKA experience is a plus).
