Team Leader: Production

The job grade for this position is LLVI.

Role Purpose:

  • Enable teams and associates to achieve the agreed targets. Support and coach teams to develop necessary skills to achieve targets including training referrals and on-the-job mentoring or training.
  • Ensure cascading of information required to achieve targets to their teams.
  • Ensure proper work organisation installed and maintained.
  • Adherence to all applicable standards and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve daily, weekly and monthly production target considering TPU and budget also.
  • Ensure quality targets in Body Shop achieved – RK, DYKO and drives optimisations.
  • Ensure problems are contained and not transferred to internal or external customers.
  • Ensure own department budget is achieved by driving scrap, overtime and Non personnel costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in technical availability and UPH performance.
  • Ensure timeous execution of TPM and preventative maintenance to the right quality and ensure high levels of technical availability.
  • Ensure robust technical problem solving during breakdowns and production continuity.
  • Ensure safe working environment and adherence of the section to all safe working requirements and procedures.
  • Ensure continuous process improvement to optimise resource usage, improve plant condition and improve ergonomics.
  • Ensure high level of motivation amongst direct reports and associates in general.

 

Educational Background / Professional Knowledge and Experience / Other Skills:

  • Engineering degree/diploma, Trade Test or equivalent.
  • Qualified artisan would be an advantage.
  • 5 years’ experience in the automotive/ related industry.
  • 3 years’ experience in production environment.
  • Process leader work organization training or PSP training.
  • Working experience of BMW system and procedures.
