Specialist: HR Business Partner

Purpose of the Job:

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units, the position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues (full HR value chain) to meet the strategic objectives within a designated business area.

 

Key accountabilities:

  • To assess and anticipate HR related needs.
  • Proactively consult with business and recommend HR strategic solutions to improve critical business outcomes.
  • Communicating needs proactively with the HR department and business management, in order to develop and implement integrated solutions.
  • Formulate partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.
  • Serve as consultant and adviser to business unit leaders in the effective management of their workforce through implementing performance management; organizational design; analysis and implementation; change management; talent assessments; leadership development; and succession planning programs.
  • Develops, communicates and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all areas of business.
  • Communicates and reviews defined HR Metrics within the assigned business driving to improve results.
  • Active participant in providing feedback and suggested changes to HR Policies and communicates with leaders within the business to ensure compliance and effective communication.
  • Assists the line managers in implementing ongoing performance metrics and development actions for the organization.
  • Collaborates with leadership and the Talent Management team to create and implement programs to attract, motivate and retain talented and diverse employees.
  • Reviews Exit Interview Reports and Turnover Reports monthly for business support and follows up as appropriate.
  • Analyzes retention issues and makes corresponding recommendations regarding training, benefits, compensation, etc.
  • Demonstrates strong facilitation skills in investigating, analyzing, and solving a myriad of complex employee relation issues in conjunction with the Employee Relations Specialist.
  • Provides guidance to support Business Managers on a wide variety of employee relations issues

Communication Scope:

  • Influencing and advising functional leaders in topics relating to HR management such as Performance management, personal development and employee relations topics.
  • Actively participate in local and international network circles to represent the HR function to ensure best practices are in place for BMW South Africa and to establish area for harmonization across the BMW Group.
  • Manage and control the feedback of lessons learnt to all internal and external process partners and ensure best practice is developed and applied.
  • Coordinates with all departments to drive HR processes and policies.

 

Minimum requirements

  • Appropriate B degree or equivalent (inclusive of HR and labour law)
  • 3-5 years relevant HR experience as an HR Generalist within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining
  • Business acumen (Knowledge and understanding of organization system, culture, procedure as well as external and internal business demands)
  • HR Technical competence
  • Sound knowledge of SA Labour legislation impacting on HR.
  • Sound knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
