As a PhD student in our team at the BMW Group, you contribute to AI-based crash video evaluation using vision-language models. You support the development of innovative AI models and data-driven methods that help improve the accuracy and efficiency of crashworthiness assessments in automotive safety engineering.

What awaits you?

• You support the development of AI models for vehicle crash behavior using modern geometric AI architectures.
• Together with the team, you help integrate machine learning and data analytics approaches with physics-based simulations to improve prediction accuracy.
• You also contribute to the development of automated workflows and optimization methods for crash simulations.
• Within the project, you support research on AI models for CAx (CAD, CAE, etc.) applications in the crash design process for cars.

What should you bring along?

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of computer vision and multimodal / vision-language models, e.g. transformers or CLIP-type architectures.
• Experience with data preprocessing, annotation workflows, and large multimodal datasets, including images, videos, and point clouds.
• A track record of research contributions, such as publications or conference talks, is a plus.
• Business-fluent English; German language skills are a plus.
