We are at the forefront of BMW product development, combining engineering excellence with pioneering technologies. Our central technology team drives and enables cross-divisional innovation projects, focusing on Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI to transform the entire development process.

What awaits you?

  • You take technical leadership for cross-divisional AI and Generative AI initiatives – from concept and architecture to implementation and scaling.
  • Furthermore, you shape BMW’s AI technology roadmap, defining standards for applied LLMs, multimodal models and agentic systems.
  • You develop and evolve methods and frameworks for Generative AI, including RAG, prompt orchestration and evaluation.
  • In addition, you promote the integration of semantic data concepts such as Knowledge Graphs and Ontologies into AI solutions.
  • You coordinate collaboration with internal and external partners and represent BMW in strategic AI committees.
  • You mentor and inspire colleagues across disciplines, fostering an AI-driven mindset and cultural transformation.
  • You act as a trusted advisor for departments and management, combining technical authority with strategic foresight.

What should you bring along?

  • PhD in a STEM field or an excellent Master’s degree with broad experience in AI innovation projects.
  • Proven success in delivering industrialised AI or Generative AI solutions with measurable impact.
  • Deep expertise in at least two areas: Generative AI, LLM architectures, NLP, Computer Vision, MLOps or AI platforms.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, HuggingFace, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
  • Familiarity with applied LLM methods such as RAG, prompt optimisation, agentic workflows and semantic data concepts like Knowledge Graphs and Ontologies.
  • Experience in AI governance, integration and lifecycle management in production environments.
  • Understanding of AI compliance and regulatory frameworks is an advantage.
