Intern material failure modelling high-voltage-battery (f/m/x)

A GOOD INTERNSHIP IS NEVER HANDS OFF.

SHARE YOUR PASSION.

We believe in creating an environment where our interns really can learn by doing  and where they are given their own areas of responsibility right from the start of their time with us. That’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

Our team at the BMW Group combines simulation expertise with innovative battery development. You will gain valuable insights into the crash safety of electric vehicles and support us in advancing safety simulation for high-voltage batteries.

What awaits you?

  • You will support the calibration of polymer foams and help to create material models for crash simulations.
  • Furthermore, you will help to explore numerical failure modeling.
  • In addition, you will gain access to computed tomography images to link mechanical behavior with microstructure.
  • Moreover, you will gain insights into the development of high-voltage batteries in crash tests and simulation.
  • You will receive excellent scientific support and become part of our motivated, cross-functional team.

What should you bring along?

  • Studies in mechanical engineering, materials science, physics or a comparable field.
  • Understanding of the finite element method.
  • Programming skills in Python or Matlab.
  • Ideally, knowledge of numerical failure modeling and experience in mechanical material testing.
  • Ideally, knowledge of polymer foams.
  • Courage and motivation to contribute your own ideas and explore new paths.
  • Very good English skills; German is an advantage.

Would you like to support our team in safety simulation and gain insights into battery development? Then apply now!

What do we offer?

  • Comprehensive mentoring & onboarding.
  • Personal & professional development.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Mobile work.
  • Attractive & fair compensation.
  • Apartments for students (subject to availability & only at the Munich location).
  • And much more, see bmw.jobs/whatweoffer
