Intern Strategy and Digitalization in Purchasing (f/m/x)

THE BEST INTERNSHIP IN THEORY - AND IN PRACTICE.

SHARE YOUR PASSION.

World-leading technologies don’t make it into a BMW until they’ve undergone one of the most challenging journeys imaginable. It takes dynamic teams with outstanding technical skills to take them from the drawing board to the road. That’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

In the Strategy & Digitalization Department of BMW Group Purchasing, we drive the digital transformation of the global BMW supply chain. Our mission is to intelligently connect supplier data, internal IT systems, and end-to-end purchasing processes — transforming them into scalable, agentic digital solutions. From day one, you will be a fully integrated member of the team, encouraged to bring in your ideas and supported in turning them into real impact.

What awaits you?

  • You support the agentization of supplier data and BMW internal IT systems by helping to capture, structure, and connect heterogeneous data sources and workflows.
  • Furthermore, you help analyze and optimize data flows and process architectures by visualizing, modeling, and harmonizing complex purchasing processes.
  • In addition, you contribute to the integration of SAP, SQL, and API-based systems into scalable workflows, including Catena X compliant data exchange.
  • Moreover, you will assist in designing and applying LLM and AI-driven automations by testing agentic components that interact with semantic technologies and knowledge graphs.
  • You also support the contribution to Catena X use cases such as CO2 transparency, part traceability, and supply chain resilience.
  • Additionally, you help foster cross-functional collaboration with procurement, IT, data engineering, and Catena X ecosystem partners to align business needs with digital solutions.

What should you bring along?

  • Studies in computer science, business informatics, data science, engineering, business administration with digital focus, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in digitalization, agent-based systems, data architectures, LLMs, and Catena X style data ecosystems.
  • Knowledge in artificial intelligence, ideally with first experience in multi-agent systems, machine learning, or semantic and knowledge graph technologies.
  • Practical experience in programming such as Python, Java, or TypeScript is beneficial.
  • Analytical thinking, structured working style, and strong willingness to learn.
  • High level of initiative, team spirit, and interest in supply chain sustainability and digital ecosystems.
  • Excellent English skills; German skills are a plus.
