We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied thesis or internship in the field of manufacturing engineering. Our team focuses on planning and digitalizing production processes with an emphasis on innovative controls technology. By integrating AI and software solutions into production planning workflows, we provide you with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
What awaits you?
- You will support the development and extension of software modules for manufacturing engineering planning, focusing on AI and data pipelines.
- Furthermore, you help to build AI-assisted features such as natural language interfaces, predictive analytics, and optimization helpers using C#, Python, and ML frameworks.
- In addition, you contribute to interfacing with existing systems and APIs, implementing robust data exchange and error handling.
- Moreover, you will assist in collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- You help to document design decisions, usage instructions, and operational aspects for maintainability.
- Furthermore, you support proof-of-concept projects and evaluate the applicability of AI techniques in production planning.
What should you bring along?
- Studies in computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, manufacturing engineering or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in C# and Python; hands-on project experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI fundamentals such as large language models and ML workflows; interest in manufacturing or planning domains.
- Basic understanding of software development life cycle, version control (Git), and modern development practices.
- Analytical thinking, good communication, and teamwork skills; ability to support in an international environment.
- Motivation to proactively support learning-by-doing and applying new technologies.
- Good English skills.
