THEORETISCH DIE BESTE ENTSCHEIDUNG. PRAKTISCH AUCH.

TEILE DEINE LEIDENSCHAFT.

Master Thesis Packaging Engineering Motorsport (f/m/x)

THE BEST THESIS IN THEORY – AND IN PRACTICE.

SHARE YOUR PASSION.

High-performance components don’t become part of BMW M Motorsport until they have passed through some of the toughest environments imaginable – on and off the racetrack. To ensure that every part arrives safely, precisely and just in time, we rely on innovative packaging concepts tailored specifically for the demands of international motorsport.

That’s why our experts will welcome you as a core part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring in your own ideas – and give you the space to truly demonstrate your capabilities in a highly dynamic environment.

As part of your thesis work, you will support BMW M Motorsport in designing and optimizing packaging solutions for complex, sensitive and high-value motorsport components used in global race series.

What awaits you?

  • You analyze existing packaging concepts for motorsport components and identify optimization potentials in terms of robustness, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • You support the development of innovative packaging solutions tailored to transport conditions in motorsport (e.g., air freight, sea freight, trackside logistics).
  • You document current packaging and logistics processes and derive standardized best-practice workflows.
  • You participate in on-site evaluations at workshops, race team facilities, and logistics hubs to collect data and understand real-world constraints.
  • You create digital models of packaging concepts and simulate load cases and handling processes.
  • You derive key KPIs such as packing density, material robustness, and process efficiency, integrating them into concept validation.
  • You incorporate iterative feedback from engineers, mechanics, and logistics experts into the concept development process.
  • You independently drive work packages within your thesis and receive regular mentoring and technical guidance from the BMW M Motorsport logistics team.
