Internship - Painted Body - Finish, Repair and Coachline Intern (Manufacturing) – 13 Month Placement (July 2026)

 

Entity, Location – Rolls Royce Motor Cars, Goodwood.

 

It takes incredible crafts to deliver Rolls-Royce quality, getting the paint finish perfect is vital for every Rolls-Royce. This is why the work of our Exterior Surface Centre couldn't be more important. In your time in the team, you'll learn all about it, working in an area that cover’s every aspect of Surface Finishing a Rolls-Royce motor car. This includes automated paint application with precision robots and meticulous surface inspection, preparation and masking by highly skilled associates, detailing the products beyond the expectations and standards of our customers.

 

Our team of around 140 people working over two shifts create the perfect Rolls-Royce ‘piano’ paint finish in our inclusive and welcoming shop floor environment, constantly adapting to change through flexibility and craftmanship.

Just some of what we do includes:

  • Sand and polish painted bodies
  • Spot repair and tin smiths
  • Finished vehicle waxing
  • Coachline and motif application.

 

What awaits you?

 

  • Industrial engineering projects (i.e. new equipment/tooling trials and introduction)
  • Leadership support projects and tasks
  • Cross-functional paint shop projects and tasks
  • Daily shop floor calendar attendance, including problem solving reviews and daily coaching
  • Opportunity to present on topics for feedback (both through slide decks to senior managers, and during shop floor meetings with support teams)
  • Raising purchase orders, including communication with suppliers and SAP
  • Extra-curricular activities may include: Support chairing the meeting of all Rolls-Royce Production Managers & involvement in the Rolls-Royce Mental Wellness Network Group.

 

What should you bring along?

 

  • Studying towards minimum of a 2:2 Bachelor degree - in Engineering, preferably mechanical-based.
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to show good inter-personal skills, showing exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills, and ability to show high attention to detail to every task
  • Ability to adapt working approach depending on specific requirements, prioritise activities, work under pressure, multi-task and solve problems.
  • An enthusiastic team player who possesses solid interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to network/identify and communicate with process partners
  • Proactive and able to use intuition to identify projects
  • Highly Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal management input
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office and Outlook, knowledge of SAP is advantageous
