Job Description
Job Title:  Compliance - Placement Year IE
Posting Start Date:  10/4/26
Job Location (Long):

Dublin, Ireland

Job Description:

START WITH WHAT ENERGISES YOU.

BMW Financial Services is a supportive place to start building a career. The intern will work with experienced colleagues who are willing to share their knowledge, explain how things work, and give practical guidance along the way. The role is not about knowing everything from day one. It is about being curious, reliable, and open to learning.

During the internship, the intern will build practical skills in regulatory research, clear writing, use of business tools, meeting preparation, governance processes, stakeholder communication, and document management. These are transferable skills that will be useful whether the intern continues in Compliance or moves into another area of financial services or business.

The intern will also have opportunities to connect with other BMW interns, including colleagues working with the National Sales Company. This will help them build a wider network, understand different parts of the BMW business, and learn from others who are at a similar stage in their careers.

Compliance Intern IE - Placement Year - 13 Month Placement (July 2027) - BMW Financial Services, Dublin.

The Compliance Intern will support the Head of Compliance with the day-to-day running of the Compliance function in BMW Financial Services (Ireland) DAC, a Central Bank of Ireland regulated retail credit firm. The role will give the intern practical exposure to compliance monitoring, regulatory change, policy management, consumer protection, financial promotions, complaints oversight, governance reporting, and general compliance advisory work.

This role would suit someone at the start of their career who is curious, organised, and willing to get involved. We do not expect the intern to arrive with compliance experience. The aim is to give them useful hands-on experience, help them build confidence, and support them as they learn how Compliance works in practice within a regulated financial services business.

What awaits you?

  • Support the maintenance and review of compliance policies, procedures, registers, and governance documents.
  • Help monitor regulatory developments relevant to retail credit, consumer protection, conduct risk, advertising, data protection, outsourcing, and financial crime compliance.

  • Help review customer-facing materials, marketing communications, and financial promotions against regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Support complaints oversight, including trend analysis, root-cause tracking, and the preparation of summaries for governance meetings.
  • Keep compliance records and evidence files organised, complete, and easy to follow.
  • Assist with ad hoc compliance, project, and governance tasks as needed.

What should you bring along?

  • Studying, or recently completed, a degree or qualification in law, business, finance, economics, risk management, compliance, or a related area.
  • Interested in financial services, regulation, customer outcomes, governance, or the automotive industry.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to tasks, documents, and deadlines.
  • Comfortable asking questions, seeking guidance, and learning from feedback.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Professional attitude, discreet, and comfortable handling confidential information.
  • Curious and willing to learn about regulated financial services.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Analytical, with an interest in understanding how regulation applies in practice.
  • Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification where needed.
  • Professional, approachable, and able to work with stakeholders at different levels.

Why choose us?

  • Great Pay – A competitive annual salary of €28,000, 23 days holiday per annum (pro rata to your contract) and an attractive pension scheme.
